It looks like 2010/11 season will be a three horse race, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United. There is also a fight for fourth or even third spot between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
The defending champions will have only themselves to blame if they don’t win title at the end of the season. They started the league well, winning with big margins and they are expected to go into the New Year still at the top of league.
They have one of the best managers in Europe, Carlo Ancelotti, he came to England from Italy and quickly adapted to the results oriented English football style. He has since made Chelsea a force to reckon with.
Players
Chelsea has been criticized for playing aging players and the experience of these players is bearing fruits to the Stanford Bridge outfit.
Frank Lampard: He was instrumental last season scoring 27 goals in all competitions from the midfield. So if he comes back to his fitness and perform to his best he will definitely increase Chelsea chances of defending the league.
Didier Dogba: He is Chelsea main man and he already has 6 goals in the league. Should continue firing from all the cylinders for the blue to win the league.
Florent Malouda: he is currently the English premier league top goal scorer with 7 goals. Arguably one of the creative players in the league. Chelsea will need him more than he needs them to win the league.
John Terry: Always leading by example, he will do anything for Chelsea to win a game.
Other instrumental players for Chelsea would be, Michael Essian, Niclolas Anelaka and Solomon Kalou.
Favourites to win the league.
Arsene Wenger’s players are not youngsters anymore; they have to prove that they can compete with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool. Wenger’s experience of English league should play a pivotal role to help Arsenal win the league..His players looked hungry for success this time around.
They have started the league well even though they have been hit by injuries. But Wenger managed to use what he has at his disposal.
Players
Fabregas: Wenger should keep his captain during the transfer window. He should continue to lead the young Arsenal side. Again it could be a good achievement for Fabregas to move to Spain with English premier league medal. But i think he should just stay at Arsenal for good.
Vermaelen: The evergreen defender should shake up his injury and help Arsenal win the league. Always gives 115 % on the field, Arsenal need him.
Song; The Cameroonian defensive midfielder will be instrumental for Arsenal to win the league. He has changed a bit, moving forward to score goal which is good. Three goals in eight games.
Van Persie: Mr Injuries should be fit again and help Chamakh and Bendtner in the Arsenal attack.
Other notable names in the Arsenal squad, Walcott, Arshavin, Wilshere, Chamakh and Nasri
Arsenal is in perfect position to win the league this time around. Should they fail to win the league, their captain will move to Spain. They should also sign an experienced goalkeeper during the January transfer window. Shay Given would be a good additional to the London side.
Only themselves to blame if they don’t win the league...
Sir Alex Ferguson is still hungry for success even after being the God father of English football for a long time. He would be happy to add one or two major trophies to his trophy cabinet. That makes Manchester united one of the title contenders.
Players
Captain Vidic
The Serbian has been rewarded for his hard work by being named captain for this season. The hard tackling defender should put United in his shoulders and bring back the title to Old Trafford. His partnership with Rio has been rock solid in the just passed games.
Nani
The Portuguese has started the league well and has already scored four goals in ten league games.
Scholes
The Man United legend is firing from all the cylinders, at the age of 35 and he is still playing week in week out. But Feguson should make sure that Scholes does not play too many games that might lead to fatigue and end up losing him when he needed him most. He would be a happy man to retire with one more premier league medal.
Rooney
The England highly rated striker has only managed to score one goal in six league appearances this season. Alex should get the best out of his star striker if he wants to win the league. Rooney should pull up his socks and start scoring goals again.
Other United players to watch, Berbatov, Chacharito and Fletcher.
Only themselves to blame if they don’t win the league...
The star stubborn Manchester outfit will have to settle for the fourth spot. They will be happy to play in the champion’s league. They are not yet ready to win the English premier league.
I think the coach should shoulder some blame for the poor performance of City, i think he is just too defensive, playing De Jong, Barry and Yaya Toure in a five man midfield..They lack creativity. I think Silva could be a good addition to that midfield, playing just in front of the two holding players, (De Jong & Yaya or Yaya & Barry) with his speedy wingers, Johnson and Milner.
Carlos Tevez
Man City captain is always fighting.. He is among the top goal scorer this season with seven goals. With a creative player in the midfield he can still score a couple of goals.
Fourth or Even Firth like last season.
Like City they will be happy to finish on top four to qualifier for the champions league. They are currently fifth on the log, just behind City and they are at the top of their champion’s league group with the defending champions Inter second.
Van der Vaart
The influential Dutch midfielder has given Spurs a new attacking option and with Luka Modric, they can terrorise any defence in the world. Both players should make sure that spurs play champion’s league again next season.
Gareth Bale
The new kid on the block. Scored a hat trick in San Siro and made Maicon look like an ordinary defender when they beat Inter 3-1 at White Hart Lane. Defenders should be worried when they face Spurs.
Fourth or third position.
