BBC African Footballer of the year, 2010

Didier Drogba wa voted the 2009 footballer of the year after scoring 37 goals in 40 games for Chelsea. Chelsea went on to win double in that year. Chelsea hit man is again a nominee for the 2010 BBC footballer of the year. Other nominees are Asamoah Gyan, Andre ‘Dede’ Ayew, Samuel Eto'o and Yaya Toure.

My favourite to win the award: Eto'o
Samuel Eto’o
Remember he won treble with Barcelona in 2008/2009 season and he was transferred to Inter Milan for the 2009/2010 season and did the same. Eto’o has a champion’s league medal with Barcelona in 2009 and with Inter Milan in 2010, what a player!
Currently Eto’s has scored 7 goals in 4 champions league games, and 7 goals in 9 appearances in Serie A.
Cameron did not perform well in Angola, (AFCON) and South Africa (World Cup) but Eto’o still managed to score 4 goals in 7 games.  Eto’o, 2010 King of Africa.
Didier Drogba
Drogba was on fire last season scoring 37 goals in 40 appearances for his club. On international games, he scored 2 goals in 5 games in 2010, friendly not included.
Drogba has scored 7 goals in 11 appearances for Chelsea this season. But it should be noted that this season he has been more of a provider than a finisher, Malouda, Kalau and Anelka have all benefited from that. Stand a chance but behind Eto'o

Asamoah Gyan
He was in the squad that lost 1 nil to Egypt in AFCON finals in Angola 2010, and took his fine form to 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
He scored 3 goals to help his team reach the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup and he went on to become the highest African goal scorer in World Cup history, one behind Cameroon legend Roger Milla.
Currently he has scored 7 goals in 11 appearances for his new club, Sunderland. He performed well, but am sorry he will not win it.
Yaya Toure
He left Barcelona with a second La Liga title, although he had lost his place in the midfield to the young Sergio Busquets.
Toure is now a regular at his new team Manchester City.
He has palyed in all the 3 games for Ivory Coast at the 2010 World Cup and he scored a goal against North Korea.
I think his brother; Kolo Toure would have been a better nominee than him. I still don't know why he is in the list, but get it right, he is a good player, he should perform to his level best.

Andre ‘Dede’ Ayew
He is the son of Abedi Ayew Pele who was a three-time African Footballer of the Year that is why he is a nominee.
Ayew was in the Ghana squad for 2010 world cup.
At the age of 21, he has 29 caps for his country Ghana. Star for the future, but this one is for Eto'o.

Where is Steven Pienaar, the Everton hard-working midfielder?

African footballer of the year 2010 will be announced on the 17 December 2010.
